all poems are the result of Monique Valdez's creativity
To sow, reap and bear.
red blue green the colors of summer
yellow orange and brown the colors of Autumn
surrounding my feet , my thoughts filled with a drummer
wondering about life post-Morten
rotating thoughts about :what i found in Austin
a city drowned in sin , bathed with debt
as shadows grow tall , approaching this hemisphere's fall
feeling bland and wanting to create
but somewhere there must of been a mistake
a sin dying to be committed , only to bring forth new methods of destruction
exactly where was my indiscretion , to deserve this nation's tribulation
who has judged me now , marked for the sake of my crown
fertile and the well was filled . i through my seeds around
sunken by the beast of the sea , through my tears you were released
even though i beg and weep maybe you where singing about what you wished for me
a piece of nostalgia is left of that great effort , a shell of what could be
but never will be ; envy is the name of my enemy
that stole my little drummer boy away
this season as i began bringing in the sheaves
they'll be no beat on its way , just fallen leaves .
At Nebakanezer's feet :
What has become of this nation birthed out of blood
where people's intent is sold as a stock ,
who are we not to learn only clay can come from mud
so we sit, judge and mock integrity , in spite of our humanity
where a president of war is given a seal of peace
based on color , oath and creed .
oh what would the King say of his dream
has character content gone out with it
what ever happened to charity merit , and transparency
who will sacrifice now for this 5 percent's greed
the earth , animals and trees are screaming for reprieve
as senators , celebrities and Bernie Ma-doff seethe
oh what a wonderful nightmare they have made of our dreams
given us heroin , to get off the opium for this masses are to many
lie cold and baron , and just go to sleep
in forsaking thinking, these three came to be
for now we have given them permission to do almost anything.
